Let’s change the narrative
ARE YOU ready to walk in FREEDOM?
CherishedLA was founded by Kate Wedell, a survivor of 10 years of working in the sex industry. We began as an outreach and support group and have grown to a social enterprise (employment) and housing! CherishedLA is a recovery program that is designed to help women who are ready to walk in freedom.
CherishedLA is a community for women in recovery from sexual exploitation, trafficking, the sex industry and drug addiction.
The mission of CherishedLA is to provide a sanctuary for healing and restoration along with support services, vocational training, employment, safe housing, and educational opportunities.
At CherishedLA, (home and our social enterprise), we believe that love is a gift more powerful than all the forces that drive women to the streets. The vision of Cherished is that of women growing individually and together while living in a ,community.
Through our Residential Program, we seek to empower women by…
• Providing a home for 1 year rent-free
• Providing an environment based on a community-living model
• Helping residents live in recovery with honesty and self-sufficiency
• Providing educational and vocational opportunities
• Fostering self-understanding through personal and spiritual growth
• Offering the time and support needed to recover from childhood abuse or loss, and to fully understand the role it plays in trafficking, prostitution, stripping, and addiction
• Offering opportunities to work towards economic self-sufficiency at CherishedLA
