HUMAN TRAFFICKING is modern day SLAVERY

CherishedLA is here for women who find themselves caught in the world of exploitation. Whether surviving human trafficking or some facet of the commercial sex industry, we are here to honor your story and walk with you on your healing path. CherishedLA is founded by a survivor of the sex industry who knows what effect the trauma of a life of exploitation causes! Kate is specifically trained in NFTC (Narrative Focused Trauma Care) and understands the deep work that needs to be done to heal, and she brings that to the women who come to CherishedLA. Our staff members are trained in trauma care, knowing you can only take people as far as you can go yourself.

Our Mission

Our Mission Statement:

The mission of CherishedLA is to create a nonjudgmental community as we walk alongside women on their journey of recovery and healing. We equip and empower women so that they can live healthy, flourishing lives. Our goal is to show women they are loved, valued, and Cherished.

WHAT CHERISHED PROVIDES

RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM

  • We provide free housing through our one-year residential program (based on availability).

  • CherishedLA takes no government funding or money from residents in the program.

  • Residents learn how to live in a safe community and contribute to the house by performing household chores.

  • Residents participate in a comprehensive recovery program, including group therapy, private therapy, book studies, and community-based activities.

  • We encourage all residents to complete or continue their education. When deemed appropriate, CherishedLA provides computer access for online courses, transportation to and from school, and tutors as needed.

EMPLOYMENT

  • After 30 days in our residential program, residents are eligible to apply to work in the CherishedLA Studio.

  • Our artisans handcraft all-natural bath and body products as well as soy wax candles.

  • Residents at CherishedLA learn skills valuable for future employment such as punctuality, teamwork, communication, perseverance, and self-motivation.

TRANSITION

  • After graduating from our one-year program, residents may choose to work in the CherishedLA Studio as a staff while still finishing school and now managing their schedule. They can continue with therapy and classes at CherishedLA if they choose.

OUTREACH

  • Our trained outreach team visits local strip clubs and massage parlors. Our team distributes small gifts to the women who work there as well as invitations to our support group. For some, our Christmas outreach gifts are the only gifts they receive over the holidays.

  • Our founder, Kate, worked in strip clubs and the commercial sex industry for 10 years. Kate recalls that there were many nights she would have left "the industry" if someone had offered her a chance. By visiting these vulnerable women, we share the message that they are loved, valued, and Cherished.
